Strategy rethink sessions

RECOVERING

Sometimes a board or executive team needs time out to rethink. A strategy has stalled, a reputation has slipped, or everyone agrees a little too easily. Neil provides the outside view.

Who it’s for

Boards, chairs, CEOs and executive teams of park, open space, environment and tourism organisations, public or private.

What Neil offers

  • Rethink session: a facilitated half or full day that works through the five Rethinking questions.
  • Project Rethink: a short review over two to six weeks, ending in clear recommendations.
  • Critical friend review: an independent read of a draft strategy before it goes to board or minister.

Why it matters

History shows that capable teams fail when no one tests the page they are all on. President Kennedy’s Bay of Pigs is the classic example of groupthink. Neil’s piece Same Plan, Same Season, Same Pigs explores how the same pattern shows up in park management.
